Pōʻaha Giving Circle
Pōʻahaʻs mission is to encourage Native Hawaiian youth to seek academic and social excellence through providing financial support to individuals and groups to participate in gifted and talented programs, travel opportunities, workshops, conferences, and related activities.
Pōʻaha is the first AAPIP Giving Circles in the State of Hawaiʻi. Giving circles encourage philanthropy in our communities. Small groups of people pool their resources to effect positive change.
The 2012-2013 Funding year Pōʻaha funded eight middle school students from Ka ʻUmeke Kāʻeo to travel to Washington DC and participate in the Close UP program. In Washington DC students met other students from around the nation, saw national sites of significance and met with their congressional representatives.
Our funding goal this year is $24,000.00 and our member goal is 120 new members. This year Pōʻaha will be determining its funding projects in December 2013.
Give a little today. Make a BIG difference tomorrow.
